Bre and I had a relaxing and enjoyable trip to Amsterdam on July 13th. We nearly screamed in excitement when boarding the plane. I stayed awake the whole time was able to watch the sunset in America and the sunrise in Europe. It was like we were in a dream, truley. The sky was a very dark blue up top and faded into a lighter cool blue, followed by a yellow stream seperating the blue from the orange on the bottom. I tried to take pictures but they didn't turn out so well from the airplane window. When the sun started to rise the cloud in front of it was orange and traced with bright red with yellow rays beeming from it. When the sun appeared in the sky it was as if it soaked up all the orange and rose. True to her reputation, Bre slept through this beauty and didn't wake when we experienced turbulance of any kind. When we landed, it was like we were still in America just in a very weird airport with dutch signs everywhere. It wasn't until we boarded the trains that we saw the countryside. We met a very nice man who was going our way and kept us company. He even helped us carry on our bags. It was just what we needed to calm our nerves. We had a stop in Den Haag and got on a connecting train to Delft. Oh, it was beautiful! The train station itself made us finally realize that we were in Europe, with it's lovely architecture and stone walls. We may have danced a little. Everyone knew we were Americans.
So much for not being too "touristy." Kendra met up with us at the train station and we walked a ten minute walk back to their flat which is adorable and quaint. A canal is literally outside their place and it's beautiful. The weather now is breezy and sunny and a good 70 degrees in the sun. As I am writing this, I am sitting at the dining room table with the french doors open to the patio. I can hear the church bells ring to tell me it's a new hour. Our day is just getting started as we clean up and rest from our flight. Soon, we will check into our flat but not until Dave and Kendra are done with work. Bre and I are drinking a glass of wine in celebration that we made it here! Safe and Sound!
Love,
Miranda and Bre
